An Article About Keeping Animals In Zoos Essay

  • Animals should be kept in zoos.

You can't just chuck these animals away and expect them to survive by there selves. If animals were in the wild they would have to take risks to have food and a tiger might attack but in zoos nothing like that would happen. Animals have their own special needs in every kind most people think they live cages but that is not true. If you are against this then why were you having a great time in the zoo.

  • Yes we should, because of a thousand reasons!

We should because It will keep the rare species alive and if we didn't have zoos some if those animals would be extinct right now!!! Seriously people who say no, I get your point but think about it! A thousand animals might have or probably would have died because of natural causes or more likely predators!

  • Why We Should we keep Zoos?

•By bringing people and animals together, zoos educate the public and foster an appreciation of the animals. This exposure and education motivates people to protect the animals.
•Zoos save endangered species by bringing them into a safe environment, where they are protected from poachers, habitat loss, starvation and predators.
•Many zoos also have breeding programs for endangered species. In the wild, these individuals might have trouble finding mates and breeding.
•Reputable zoos are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and are held to high standards for the treatment of the animals. According to the AZA, accreditation means, "official recognition and approval of a zoo or aquarium by a group of experts."
•A good zoo provides an enriched habitat in which the animals are never bored, are well cared-for, and have plenty of space.
•Zoos are a tradition, and a visit to a zoo is a wholesome, family activity.
•Seeing an animal in person is a much more personal and more memorable experience than seeing that animal in a nature documentary.
•Some would argue that humans have little, if any duty to non-human animals because humans are more important, and if keeping animals in zoos serves any educational or entertainment purposes, we can ethically do it.
•Zoos help rehabilitate wildlife and take in exotic pets that people no longer want or are no longer able to care for.
•Both accredited and unaccredited animal exhibitors are regulated by the federal Animal Welfare Act, which establishes standards for care2

  • Animals should be kept in zoos

Animals should be kept in zoos because if the animals are out of the zoo then they might eat other animals and people. Another reason why animals should be kept i n zoos because some people dont like taking care of animals. A final reason why animals should be kept in zoos because they wont get hunted.

  • Animals in zoo

What if a animal is sick and needs help? What if it's habitat was just destroyed and it needs a new home? A zoo try to make the area feel just like the habitat that species would live in. For example, a penguin is given cold air, and water to swim in.

  • Keep them here.

We will never get to see any animals? What else would we do without a zoo? Zoos also protect animals.
Then humans will already think animals are extinct. Everything is perfect just the way it is. In the wild other animals will kill. Then all the good animals will be gone.

  • Yes, they are safer

Yes, I believe that we should keep animals in zoos. I feel like animals are safer in the zoos then they are out in the wild. Most zoos give their animals an ample amount of room to roam free in, while being monitored to ensure that they are safe. It also allows children to see and learn about animals that they may not otherwise get to see.

  • Yes, with moderation

Keeping animals in captivity is a great way to find out about animals and to help endangered species, but if we breed animals, most of them cannot be released back into the wild as they do not have the skills to hunt/forage for food, so we will end up with a stock of animals that cannot be released into the wild, because of this, we have to sell the animals to other zoos which requires us to ship them over great distances which costs great amounts of money and effort. Despite this, animals can still get sick which can result in unfortunate outcomes including loss of money and loss of the beautiful animals that contribute to our world.

On a more positive note, I am sure most of you have heard about the Tasmanian Devils? If you have not, they are the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world, and the only place they are found in the wild is Tasmania, in Australia. They have been listed as an endangered species since 2008. Anyway, many zoos in Australia are helping breed and protect the Tasmanian Devils, they achieve this by containing several Tasmanian devils and breeding them so if they become extinct in the wild, they will be able to restore the population. This is a great example of the good of keeping animals in captivity.

Thanks for reading, I hope this helped you in any way at all.

  • They are in a prison for animals

I do not think putting animals i cages is not right. I believe that animals should be in the wild. They will be able to live free. Look at it this way how would you like be put in a cage then displayed for people to see. But some times when there are born in captivity its good for them to stay in a zoo. Thank you

  • I believe we should, as they provide safety and shelter for animals in need.

I believe that animals deserve the right to be in their natural habitats, but there are also many exceptions to this rule. Especially when zoos and wildlife preserves come into the equation. There are many endangered species out there, and as much as some people hate locking these creatures in cages, it is a practice that will ultimately save those animals. So for the most part, yes, I do agree that we should keep animals in zoos, or at least wildlife preserves.

    A giraffe at the zoo

Some people believe zoos, where wild animals are kept in a man-made environment, should no longer exist in the twenty century.

    Do you agree or disagree?

Internationally, people knew and learn wild animals from the zoos they have visited. Majority enjoy going to the zoo, but certain group of people believed that zoos must be totally eradicated in next two decades. And I am extremely against with that idea.

First of all, the main purpose of the zoo is to conserve the animals. We all know most of these wild creatures are already endangered because of human activity such as hunting and illegal selling. In the zoo, at least someone will be looking for their safety and they will be feed as well. Unlikely, if they are the filed, there is a danger that some people got their attention, hunt and sell them. Most favorite of hunters are wild deer and even tigers. Poor creatures!

Secondly, in the zoo, we will gain knowledge about their existence. I know we can learn the life of animals in the books, discussions in school, but isn't much enjoyable to learn if we can have interactions with them? I remember when I was in college we went to a mini safari and I had so much fun while learning about lions. I would say it is one of the memorable experience I had a student.

Lastly, visiting a zoo brought so much excitement not only to the kids but to adults as well. It is entertaining to see different types of monkeys playing, swinging from one branch to another; groups of flamingos in varied colors; and there are zoos that they will allow visitors to feed them at certain period of time. These sort of activity also helps a lot in building a camaraderie to all sort of generation.

Preservation, widening our knowledge, and entertainment are the main reasons why we need the zoos. However, if the habitat of these lovely God creatures is not well managed, then it is better to close this institution. One exemplary zoo is Singapore Zoo. Animals have a habitat their that is looks like a jungle. Zoos must be spacious, greenery and must maintain cleanliness, not only to attracts tourist but to make the the animals satisfied with the place they are living in.

We no longer need to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed.

    Do you agree or disagree?

Internationally, some wild animals are being kept in the zoos, however, other people do not approve of this. This essay will discuss the reason why it is important to keep the animals in the zoos.

To begin with, I personally agree that animals should be kept in the zoos. For example, if animals such as lion, are left out in the street, it could cause a lot of damage, including killing people. However, some people may feel like these animals are trained, and therefore it could not do any harm, so why lock it in the cage? But truth to be told an animal is an animal, it may lose its will and feel a need to eat, hence human can be an easy target to kill. Athough, it is true that a zoos are one place most families like to go and hung out, so closing the zoo may prevent people especially children an opportunity to see animals such as leopard, zebra elephants and many more. Beside, zoos can also be an education centre not only for children but adult as well. Even tourist can reduce in number, as the zoos especially in Africa Continent, are some of the reasons that tourist wants to visit such places.

Furthermore, keeping animals in a zoos might seem a clue thing to do to the animals as they have limited range to move around. But, if you look at it carefully it is actually the best thing that can happen to the animals. for instance, animals do not need to go and hunt food, food can be given to them for free as they are being care for, in additional to the food, animals can have free access to the medical care, shelter and protection unlike the animals that are left in the jungle to care for it selves.

Essay on the Banning of Zoos

    by vinutna

Some people believe that zoos where animals are kept in a man-made environment should no longer exist in the 21st century.

    Do you agree or disagree?

Zoos are the places where several animals are kept. Some groups of people consider that zoos should be banned in the 21st century as they snatch the freedom of animals. However, I disagree with the given notion because of the benefits zoos provide such as protection of animals, education and entertainment, lastly maintenance of ecological balance.

To begin with, most of the animals these days are gradually losing their natural habitats because of deforestation and natural calamities. So in this cases, zoos prove to be beneficial for animals as they get a safer place to live in. zoos also provide enough place for large animals. Hence, it pertinent to consider zoos should no longer exist. Furthermore, in past few decades, several animals are moving towards extinction because of poaching and illegal trade of animals. For example, in country like India, tigers are being extricated and hence left over tigers are being protected by keeping them in zoos. Consequently, government of India to increase their number has initiated numerous breeding programs.

In addition, zoos act as a huge source of knowledge for children since they can relish the opportunity of watching animals closely. The images of animals which they see in their textbooks can be seen live in the zoos and they can also get entertained. Finally, zoos help in maintaining ecological balance by saving several animals. If animals’ extinction continues without being addressed then in the long run, it disturbs the natural life cycle and ultimately end in dangerous consequences. Therefore, it is not correct to think of a world without zoos.

Taking into consideration all the above points, I believe that zoos should not be banned as they are safe living places for many animals.
